My Story

I started my blog a few months ago not having a clue what I would write about. To be honest the only reason I started one was because my friend hounded me to for weeks and weeks. I kept telling her no I hate writing, I suck at writing, and what the heck would I write about anyways?! Well I would just like to thank Ashley for welcoming me to the Blog world. It has been a fun outlet and it's almost therapeutic in a weird way. So over the few months I've had to discover the blog world, I've decided to make the focus of my blog my family of course, but also about my journey to a healthier life. I have come across many health/fitness blogs that have inspired me to turn my focus in this direction. Also, in the recent months (following the Holidays) I have seen myself hit a plateau and get a little off track with my new found healthy lifestyle. I haven't gained (Thank God!) but I haven't been sticking to it as hard as before. I'm pretty happy with my weight at this point, but I still have a ways to go, so hopefully blogging more about it will help keep me motivated and on track.

I have struggled with my weight my entire life. It has been by far one of the biggest obstacles in my life and probably always will be. The first time I had success with weightloss was my Freshman year in High School. I lost about 35-40 pounds, but it slowly packed right back on because I couldn't find a realistic way to maintain my weight. Then I started college (Freshman 15, psshhh more like 50), got married 2 years later (yep, it does it to the best of us), had a baby (Oh yeah, bring on the food!!!), lost my brother, then my grandma a week later, etc. etc. etc. Life got the best of me. Bottom line, I let myself go. I had become miserable: physically, mentally, and emotionally. Boy it's amazing how crappy being fat can make you feel!

So what made me want to make the change? If your new to my blog, click here to see.

I have been on a countless number of diets in my life, none have worked or they worked for a while then I gained it all back. So, I made this a life change. Something I can see myself sticking to for the rest of my life. I'm not in a hurry to lose the weight. I mean why hurry now, right? Find what works for you and stick to it!

So what EXACTLY did I do?

1) Got active
2) Started Eating healthy
3) Created a fail proof environment
4) Found a routine that worked for me

Sorry, it's not rocket science. Quit trying fad diets and "miracle drugs" and just do it the way they've always told us too...80 pounds lighter and I am here to say it REALLY does work!! For an in depth look at my diet and exercise routine click here.

***WARNING***

The next picture is VERY scary!!! I can't believe I'm even posting this...

( It's quite possibly the worst picture I could find of myself. Kind of makes me want to vomit.)

AFTER: December 2010
This blog is as much for me as it is for you. If others can gain knowledge from it than that is awesome! If it annoys you when people talk about working out and eating right, you might want to stop reading it...sorry. Being healthy has become a major part of my life and sometimes I find people that don't care to hear about it, which I understand because I used to be that person. Well it's on my mind 24/7...it has to be. So this is my way of talking about it without annoying people. For those of you who do continue reading, I hope you can get something from it, even if it's just a yummy healthy recipe. I LOVE sharing my successes (and struggles) toward a healthier life with others in hopes that they can join this amazing journey with me. And I LOVE hearing others' stories, advice, recipes, etc. as well...so please share your knowledge with me! I was miserable 80 lbs. ago and today I feel better than I ever have...can you blame me for wanting to share that with you?

*Disclaimer: I am by NO MEANS a health/fitness/nutrition expert, this is just what has worked for ME.
